Grace “Ducky” Louise Webb

February 3, 1937 – May 12, 2026

Grace Louise Webb, affectionately known as "Ducky," passed away peacefully at Lake of the Woods Health Center in Baudette on May 12, 2026 at the age of 89. Born in Warroad, MN, on February 3, 1937, to Elvin and Louise (Wanous) Hansen, she lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication to those around her.

At just 14 days old, Grace took her first plane ride to Oak Island, where she grew up and attended Oak Island School through seventh grade. She continued her education in Baudette, living with a family during the school year, and graduated in 1955.

Grace pursued her passion for healthcare by attending the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, training as a lab technician. Her career took her to Chicago, where she worked at Children's Memorial Hospital in the blood bank. It was there that she met the love of her life, Ronald "Buck" Webb. They married in Minneapolis on December 1, 1956, beginning a beautiful journey together.

Their early years took them to Virginia, MN, and then back to Chicago before settling on Oak Island in 1960. Together, they ran the Bay Store, and Grace served as postmaster for the Oak Island U.S. Post Office until 1994.

Grace's life was deeply shaped by her faith-she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord in 1969, a commitment that guided her throughout her life.

In 1999, Grace and Buck moved to Baudette, where she continued to pour her passions and energy into church, the VFW, the Republican Party, and volunteering at the Humane Society, Lake of the Woods Historical Society, and Hospice. She loved to read, garden flowers and vegetables, make jams and jellies, and can vegetables. An avid walker, she would walk daily and, in her later years, could be seen making her way to the museum with her walker on the days she volunteered.

Grace also had a deep love for animals and cared for them with the same kindness she showed to everyone in her life.

Grace's warmth and joy were unmistakable—she was always smiling, always happy. Every visit with her was filled with laughter and positivity. She lived out her deeply held conservative, Godly values and shared her faith with all who knew her. Her love for Buck was unwavering, and she often reminisced about the first time she saw him, saying, "He was the prettiest thing I had ever seen.

Her greatest desire was for her family and friends to seek the Lord, accept His gift of salvation, and come to know His incredible love for us all.

She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched.

Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald E. (Buck) Webb; her parents, Elvin and Louise Hansen; half-brother, Keith Hansen; infant sister, Shirley; nephews, Stephen Hansen and George Hansen; and in-laws, Lahya and Edward Webb.
