Shirley Mae Neumiller, 89
April 30, 2026
Shirley Mae Neumiller, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, surrounded by family at the Warroad Senior Living Center, Warroad, Minnesota.
Shirley was born to Norris and Mabel Fevold in Reine Township, Roseau County, Minnesota, on November 9, 1936. After several years, the family moved to Roseau, Minnesota, where Shirley attended school and graduated from Roseau High School. Around that time, Shirley met and ultimately married Jack Neumiller, who had recently returned from his service in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Jack and Shirley married on April 18, 1954, in a double wedding ceremony with her brother, Cliff (Jean) Fevold, at Warroad, Minnesota.
After their marriage, and because Jack mainly drove truck in the early years of their marriage, they did move around quite a bit, but they always returned and ultimately settled where Jack grew up at Long Point “the lake” in Williams, Minnesota. Although Shirley did work outside the home for several years on and off, her real passion was keeping a home and being with her children and grandchildren while Jack was either on the road, commercial fishing, or working for the City of Warroad, where he retired from.
Living at “the lake” was Shirley’s favorite place on earth, and she loved working in her flower gardens, tending to her plants, writing letters and cards, poetry, or short stories. Most importantly, though, Shirley fiercely loved her family, was a devout Christian, and loved reading and studying her Bible.
Jack and Shirley had five children. Michael (Emmalyn) Neumiller, Patrick (Julie) Neumiller, Craig (Lori) Neumiller, Shanda (Jon) Olsen, Jack (Edie) Neumiller. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, husband (Jack), one grandchild (Pennie), and four great-grandchildren. Shirley is survived by all her children, 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Per her request, there will be a very private family burial for Shirley.
