County distributes sandbags as rising water threatens property, businesses

Property Owners can check their own flood threat by using a map on the Lake of the Woods County website (https://www.co.lake-of-the-woods.mn.us.) Go to Lake of the Woods County’s website. Hover over “Departments” at the top of the page, and then click on “Emergency Management” in the dropdown menu. Scroll down the page and click on the link that says “Map.” Click the link. Click the checkbox “Flood Contours” under “Layers.” Use the map’s controls to zoom in to a parcel of land. The red contour line marks the land most-likely to flood if the lake continues to rise. The green line marks the land least-likely to flood.
