RESOLUTION NO. 2023-20

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUMMARY

PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE 2023-12-01

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baudette has adopted Ordinance 2023-12-01, titled “AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE XI OF THE BAUDETTE CITY CODE BY CREATING A NEW CHAPTER 116 REGARDING SHORT TERM RENTAL LICENSING”; and

WHEREAS, in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps, Minnesota state law allows the City Council to approve, by a four-fifths vote, the publication of an ordinance by title and summary only; and

WHEREAS, the expense to publish the complete four-page text of the ordinance is not justified; and

WHEREAS, the following summary clearly informs the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Baudette, Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota, that the following summary is hereby approved for publication:

SUMMARY PUBLICATION

ORDINANCE NO. 2023-12-01

The City Council of the City of Baudette has adopted Ordinance 2023-12-01, titled “AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE XI OF THE BAUDETTE CITY CODE BY CREATING A NEW CHAPTER 116 REGARDING SHORT TERM RENTAL LICENSING,” which will take effect on February 1, 2024. The purpose of the ordinance is to create a new chapter in the city code consisting of regulations and performance standards for short term rental dwelling units, which are defined as dwelling units rented for a period of less than 30 consecutive days for tourist or transient use. The ordinance includes, without limitation, provisions establishing a licensing program and various other requirements that apply to each individual short term rental dwelling unit in the city. This public notice is intended only to summarize the ordinance. The full text of the ordinance is available for inspection at Baudette City Hall during regular business hours.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Baudette, Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota, that the City Clerk keep a copy of Ordinance 2023-12-01at City Hall for public inspection during business hours and post a full copy of the ordinance in a public place in the City.

Adopted and approved by the City Council of the City of Baudette on a vote of 5 ayes and 0 nays effective on the 11th day of December 2023.
