A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUMMARY

PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE 2023-09-01

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baudette has adopted Ordinance 2023-09-01, titled “AN ORDINANCE REPLACING TITLE III, ORDINANCE 33 OF THE BAUDETTE CITY CODE RELATED TO ADMINISTRATIVE CITATIONS”; and

WHEREAS, in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps, Minnesota state law allows the City Council to approve, by a four-fifths vote, the publication of an ordinance by title and summary only; and

WHEREAS, the expense to publish the complete four-page text of the ordinance is not justified; and

WHEREAS, the following summary clearly informs the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Baudette, Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota, that the following summary is hereby approved for publication:

SUMMARY PUBLICATION

ORDINANCE NO. 2023-09-01

The City Council of the City of Baudette has adopted Ordinance 2023-09-01, titled “AN ORDINANCE REPLACING TITLE III, ORDINANCE 33 OF THE BAUDETTE CITY CODE RELATED TO ADMINISTRATIVE CITATIONS”. The purpose of the ordinance is to replace the previous Ordinance 33 with a new chapter in the city code authorizing the issuance of administrative citations for violations of the city code and violations of conditions of city-issued permits or licenses. The ordinance provides a mechanism and framework for issuance, payment, collection, and appeals of administrative citations. The ordinance also amends the city’s fee schedule by incorporating a $50.00 fine for administrative offenses, which are subject to escalation for subsequent same or similar offenses in a one-year period. This public notice is intended only to summarize the ordinance. The full text of the ordinance is available for inspection at Baudette City Hall during regular business hours.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Baudette, Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota, that the City Clerk keep a copy of Ordinance 2023-09-01 at City Hall for public inspection during business hours and post a full copy of the ordinance in a public place in the City.

Adopted and approved by the City Council of the City of Baudette on a vote of 5 ayes and 0 nays effective on the 11th day of September 2023.
