An Ordinance Relating Subsurface Sewage Treatment Systems-Lake of the Woods County

Summary of Ordinance

The ordinance provides minimum standards for and regulation of all Subsurface Sewage Treatment Systems (SSTS) for the treatment and dispersal of sewage within the application jurisdiction of Lake of the Woods County. This ordinance is to provide protect public health and safety by protecting the County’s surface water and groundwater quality, and to prevent or eliminate the development of public nuisances.

A printed copy of the entire text of the ordinance is available for inspection by any person during regular office hours at the County Auditor or the Land and Water Planning Offices. This ordinance is also available on the Lake of the Woods County website at https://www.co.lake-of-the-woods.mn.us/

The ordinance was adopted by the Lake of the Woods County Board of Commissioners on June 27, 2023, and has an effective date of July 5, 2023. This summary is published in the Northern Light Region on July 5, 2023.
