Janice Arlene Nordine, 82

Janice Arlene Nordine of Baudette, MN, passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 20, 2023, at the age of 82. Janice was born December 21, 1940, to Arnold and Doris Lund in Minneapolis, MN. The family moved to Baudette when Janice was very young, and she made it her lifelong home. Janice graduated from Lake of the Woods High School

She was married in 1959 for 17 years, and she brought three daughters into the world.

Janice spent most of her daughter’s younger years as a homemaker, selling Avon and sewing all her daughter’s clothing. She later was employed at Marvin Windows, where she spent most of her career, ultimately retiring at the age of 64. Jan was not fond of Minnesota winters, so after retirement, she, and her longtime friend Melford, spent the winter months in McAllen, TX, with many friends.

Although she didn’t enjoy the weather, she would always make sure to fly back to Minnesota to spend Christmas with family. Family was her life. Her most cherished memories were always with her family, including the yearly trip to Jenson Island in Canada and a Caribbean cruise for her 70th birthday.

She enjoyed fishing more than most and took the quote “don’t miss the boat!” quite literally, as she was always the first one on the boat with her antique fishing pole!

Janice was also quite the crafter, spending much of her time sewing and scrapbooking for her family. She was known to be a perfectionist when it came to her sewing and would start over if it wasn’t just right!

Jan took every opportunity to live each day to the fullest. You wouldn’t know it by her positive outlook, but for most of her life, she dealt with health issues stemming from Steven Johnson Syndrome. However, she never let it keep her from enjoying life with her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren

Preceded in death by grandparents, mother Doris Lund, father Arnold Lund, Sister Betty Higdem/Bemis, friend Melford Olson and her daughter Carla (Nordine) Hanson

Survived by daughters Brenda Duick and Robin Jenson (Bob); grandchildren: Natasha (Graham), Beau (Sara), Tamara (Tom), Tristan (Shaii), Jordan & Brady (Jenna); great-grandchildren: Hailey, Chloe, Ellie, Grayson, Hunter, Weston, Will and Brothers Butch Lund(Julie) and Gary Lund (Chris); and many nieces & nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. July 8, 2023, at Wabanica Lutheran Church in Baudette, MN. Interment to follow at Wabanica Lutheran Cemetary.
