Gordon "The Viking" Lindquist, 93

Gordon "The Viking" Stanford Lindquist of Baudette passed away at his home on April 26, 2023, at the age of 93.

A Memorial Service for Gordon Lindquist was held at Helgeson Funeral Home in Baudette on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 3 pm, with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery in Williams.

Gordon Lindquist passed away at his home in Baudette, MN, in the early morning hours of April 26, 2023. He was 93 years old.

Gordon Stanford Lindquist was born on November 5, 1929, in Zippel Township (Baudette), MN, to John and Esther Lindquist. He attended school in Williams. As a young man, he worked in a mine as a welder, worked in the potato fields, and made wieners in a cold-cut plant in Sioux City, SD. He enlisted in the US Army in May 1954 and served part of his time in France.

Gordon, also known as “the Viking” (he liked to tell the kids that he was the last of the Vikings), loved playing golf, happy hour, hunting, catching fish, playing horseshoes, and handing out root beer barrels. He was a member of The Eagles and the American Cancer Society.

Gordon is survived by his children, Jackie of Warroad, Chris of Warroad, and Deborah of Baudette; five grandchildren - Eric, Brett, Darren, Michael, and Heather; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Lyla Pieper of Williams; and a brother, Roger Lindquist, who lives in Oregon; and also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Alice, Gladys Pearl, George Lyle, Florence Grace, Edwin Albin, Elwood, Ruby Laverne, Gilbert, Gordon Stanford, Shirley Arline, Dorothy “Dottie,” Nancy, and Carrie.
