Michael Alden Anderson, 52

February 08, 2022

Michael Alden Anderson, 52, of Lincoln, Nebraska and formerly of Border, Minnesota, passed away on January 27th, 2022 in Lincoln after a six year fight with kidney disease.

Michael was born on June 21st, 1969 in Lincoln, NE and was the son of Gerald and Sharon Anderson. He attended Elementary school in Lincoln until 1981 when the family relocated to Border, MN. He graduated from Indus High School in 1987. After high school, Mike worked at Rowell Laboratories, Solvay Pharmaceuticals, and Auto Value in Baudette, MN.

In 2011, he relocated back to Lincoln, NE where he worked for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals until 2014 when his kidney disease made it no longer feasible for him to work full-time. Mike battled many health obstacles throughout the last years of his life. Kidney disease ultimately led to routine dialysis, multiple infections, leg amputation, open heart surgery, and a spinal surgery that left him a paraplegic during the last year of his life.

Mike’s heart and soul belonged to northern Minnesota, as his biggest love in life was fishing. He spent many days of his life in a boat, fishing the Rainy River, catching walleyes and other fish and going on fishing trips with work friends and family. He was a very kind, generous person who would help anyone in times of need. He had many nicknames in life; countless people knew Mike as “Chop.”

Mike is survived by his mother Sharon Anderson (Lincoln, NE), brother Steven Anderson (Sarasota, Florida), nieces Emily Anderson (Warroad, MN) and Carolyn Hawk (Warroad, MN), aunt Janet Anderson (Duluth, MN), uncle Lyndon Anderson (Border, MN), great nieces and nephew Abbey, Millie, and Elijah Hawk (Warroad, MN), and numerous cousins on both sides of the family. He is preceded in death by grandparents Don and Emma Yakel (Lincoln, NE), Bud and Ruth Anderson (Border, MN), his father Gerald Anderson (Border, MN), and aunt Margaret (Lyndon) Anderson (Border, MN).

He already is, and will always be, greatly missed.
