Barbara Ann Hauger, 81

February 01, 2022

Barbara Ann Hauger passed away at Greenleaf of Minnesota, Thief River Falls, Minnesota on January 5, 2022 at the age of 81.

Barbara was born on June 15, 1940 in Roseau, Minnesota; the first of four children born to Elizabeth (Zupetz) and Grant Hauger. She grew up in Baudette, Minnesota and enjoyed traveling the country, camping, and site-seeing with her family.

Barb's love of music began as a child of six years old riding the ferry from Baudette to Rainy River, Ontario for piano lessons. She went on to receive multiple honors in international competitions. She was organist at the Thief River Falls United Methodist Church for many years.

After graduating Valedictorian from Baudette High School in 1958, Barb completed a BA from Concordia College in Moorhead, an MA from Bemidji State College in Bemidji, and finally her PhD in Business Education from the University of North Dakota. She spent most of her career teaching business at Northland Community College in Thief River Falls.

Barb's many interests included music, photography, wildflower identification, and genealogy. Family heritage research prompted travels to Utah, England, Norway, and Slovenia. Family was paramount in Barb's life. She attended every reunion and family gathering where she delighted in her nieces and nephews--always interested in and encouraging of their endeavors.

Barbara is survived by her brother Byron (Marcia) Hauger of Williams, Minnesota; brother-in-law John Sterk of Rush City, Minnesota; sister-in-law Mary Hauger of Orland, Maine; nieces and nephews Gary (Faith) Hauger, Margaret (Mike) Hanscom, Elizabeth Sterk, Peter Sterk, Harland Hauger, and Clark (Rachel) Hauger as well as eight grand nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, sister Nancy Sterk, and brother Geoffrey Hauger.
