Summary of Ordinance

This ordinance adopts a model floodplain ordinance provided by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The ordinance provides general regulations for development in areas located in the floodplain, addresses potential conflicts with other County Ordinances, delineates permitted uses, provide provisions for variances, regulates non-conformities and outlines penalties for violations.

A printed copy of the entire text of the ordinance is available for inspection by any person during regular office hours at the County Auditor or the Land and Water Planning Offices. This ordinance is also available on the Lake of the Woods County website.

The ordinance was adopted by the Lake of the Woods County Board of Commissioners on September 27, 2022, and has an effective date of October 26, 2022. This summary is published in the Northern Light Region on October 5, 2022.
