Gayle Caroline Tauer-Laine, 83
Gayle Tauer-Laine passed away July 26, 2022, age 83 in Nashville, TN.
Gayle was born in Baudette, MN on the first day of winter 12/21/39 to Clifford Tauer and Opal Jenson.
Gayle has a brother Rod Tauer and years later a half-sister Karen Anderson. Gayle graduated from
Baudette High School and went on to complete her teaching degree at St. Cloud University.
Gayle met her husband, Evalt Lainewaitressing in Baudette as Evalt was working road construction in
Baudette. The two married in St. Cloud, MN in 1960 and started their life in Minneapolis, where their
son, Scott and daughter, Susan were born. Shortly thereafter they moved and resided in Hermantown,
MN for 40 years. Gayle was a Special Education teacher for 30 years within the Proctor school system.
Upon retirement, Gayle and Evalt moved to Bella Vista, Ark where she enjoyed her friends, singing in a
large church choir and community events. Summers were spent with family and friends in MN. Several
years ago, they moved back to MPLS to be near their grandchildren. One year ago, they moved to
Nashville, TN to live near her daughter and grand-daughter, Emalee Weil to watch them build a 2-acre
flower farm.
Gayle is survived by her husband of 62 years Evalt Laine, her daughter Susan Laine of Nashville and
Grandchildren Matthew Laine of Florida, Aaron Laine (Saski) of Minneapolis, Eric Laine of China, Emalee
Weil (Jade) of Nashville, Eddison Habas University of Oregon, Great-Grandchildren Bryson, Leah and
Brooks Laine, Lenora Web and Irie-Laine Roser, brother Rod Tauer (Ann) of Forest Lake, MN, sister Karen
Anderson (Terry) of Warroad, MN and Cousin Amos Hard (Joan) of Northfield, MN, Barb Thompson of
CA and Patricia Kristison of Idaho.
Gayle is preceded in death by her parents and son, Scott Laine who died in 1992 of Leukemia. Gayle
loved her family, friends and in particular her grandchildren very dearly.
